Sailing yacht diorama on a realistic rough sea on a base of 42 x 30 cms (16.5 x 11.8 inches).
The sailing yacht is a vintage boat I had for some years, and shows some wear and tear, but still in good condition as you can see on the photos.
The seascape diorama is handmade by me early this year 2024.
I used a square A3 size sheet of polyetylene (Insulation foam) measuring 42 x 30 cms ( 16.5 x 11.8 inches), cut out the waves, covered it with white PVA glue, and covered it with hygenic paper, giving it the very realistic effect of small waves, typical of the sea. I than blow dried it, and painted the whole area with various dark coloured acrylic paints. Once this was dry I painted areas of the sea with white acrylic paint, and enhanced the waves waves with a sturdy white coloured gel. Various covers of acrylic clear varnish finished the realistic effect.

For shipping I use a carton exactly fitting the base, so it can't move insde the box. For safe transport reasons, the sailing yacht I put loose on top of the diorama protected and covered with soft tissue paper. Shipped with the masts and sails folded down. All the sails are made of cotton cloth. The yacht can be put very easily insIde the specialy fitted open space in the diorama. You don't have to glue the yacht onto the diorama, as it fits snugly into the open space privided in the diorama. If you do want to glue THE YACHT onto the base, USE ONLY PVA WOOD GLUE, DON'T USE SPIRIT BASED GLUES, AS THEY MAY MELT THE INSULATION FOAM.
